Back at Chelsea and enjoying regular football, Victor Moses believes he is benefiting from the confidence placed in him by Antonio Conte.
Moses had been loaned out for the previous three seasons despite an impressive first campaign at Stamford Bridge, but is firmly back in the fold under Conte following a good pre-season with the squad.
He contributed his first goals of the season against Bristol Rovers and Burnley before playing the full 120 minutes against Leicester in Tuesday’s EFL Cup comeback.
‘It’s a great feeling. I’ve always wanted to play at Chelsea – it’s a great club,’ Moses said. ‘I’ve always wanted to play games and I was very pleased after my first season here. Things changed a little bit after that but it’s great to have this manager here. He gave everyone the chance to express themselves and I did well in pre-season, so he gave me the chance.
‘As everyone can see, the manager is very passionate about the game and everyone respects him. We all want to work hard for him to make sure we try to win every game this season.’
Tuesday’s win at the King Power brought a buzz back to the Bridge after our first defeat of the season against Liverpool and we now look ahead to a London derby at Arsenal on Saturday. Moses is likely to be back among the substitutes but is confident he can make an impact when called upon.
‘The goal against Burnley gave me confidence. The most important thing is winning games but I was pleased with the goal at the same time, and there are more goals to come.
‘Before I’ve come on, the manager has always told me to just stay wide, get on the ball and go at the full-back one-v-one to try and create an opportunity,’ the Nigerian international winger continued.
‘If the manager believes in you, it helps you go out there and feel confident. I’m enjoying my football at the moment and that’s the most important thing. I just keep working hard for the team and everything else will come into place.
‘I think there are going to be a lot of positive things to come from us this season. We’ve got quality players, we’ve got a good manager, and I just feel there is going to be a lot of positivity around us.’
